Letter from the Secretariat

Dear Esteemed Delegates and Faculty Advisors,

It's a pleasure to welcome you all to Kennesaw State University’s 38th Annual High School Model United Nations Conference. My name is Julyana Ayache and I have the honor of serving as your Secretary-General for this conference. Alongside me, my Under-Secretary-General, Derya Aydin, Director-General, Emily McCarthy, and the conference staff have been working hard to ensure that this conference will be a fascinating and purposeful experience that expands your talents and inspires you to display your true potential.

As you prepare for the upcoming conference, we ask that each delegate is mindful of the theme for this year’s conference: Targeting Inequities Amongst Minorities and Genders Across Member States to Lead Effective Policy-Making and Strong Cohesive Institutions. Everyday in the turning world, communities strive for equities and recognition globally. In the modern realm of globalization, we undoubtedly observe the levels of inequality against minorities and specifically women across developed and lesser-developed Member States. Though circumstances have improved, in today's ever-evolving world, the pursuit of equality remains an ongoing battle. Despite significant progress made in various spheres, there are still glaring disparities and injustices that demand our attention and concerted efforts. The topic of ensuring equality explores the challenges, opportunities, and necessary steps to create a more just and inclusive society for all. In a globalized world, where interconnectedness is inevitable, it is crucial for Member States to recognize that their own prosperity and security and are intricately linked to the well-being of others. By advocating for the needs of their people, they can foster cooperation and collaboration among nations, ultimately leading to a more harmonious and equitable world. It is through collective efforts and shared responsibilities that we can address pressing global challenges such as poverty, and conflict resolution. Let us embrace the spirit of unity and resolution.

Returning delegates, we ask that you please reflect on your past experiences at KSU HSMUN. Push yourselves to be more diplomatic and engaged in the issues you are presented with. New delegates,we want you to prepare yourselves for this experience by studying and striving to understand more about different ways of life and thinking. Our intention for this conference is to help you to learn the necessary skills to engage in debate, negotiation, and constructive diplomacy. These are skills and abilities needed to ensure the continuance of diplomacy.
